Just a few ways to maintain balance through the holiday season!
Tip 1: Show appreciation of people’s attempt to make your types of food, but also do not eat products just to please others!
*Even if the attempt is incorrect, the fact that they put forth and effort to make something you can eat, shows a level of consideration that many people actually wish that they had.
*Show appreciation for people’s attempts to make food for you, but the appreciation does not actually mean that you have to go against what you believe is the very best for you.
Compromising your beliefs to make other people comfortable sends the message that no one needs to take your beliefs seriously!
*When you show that you respect that your own beliefs, you send the message that your friends and family need to respect your choices as well!
*What do you do if you have not respected your own beliefs, and now are going to try to?
SPEAK YOUR TRUTH
Be short and simple (this is going to be uncomfortable, but the less you explain, the better, then you do not feel like you are defending) ...
“I am choosing to do this for my health, and I would love for you to respect this decision.”
TIP 2: Make sure that any food you share is delicious!
*If you choose to expose others to this type of food, make the best dishes that you can! The reality is, the better the food, the better the attitude will be towards the entire concept! Giving people the excuse to reject the ideas you have will not be good!
